Ilkley Pale - late hops

Didn't have time to finish off the blog yesterday - things got a bit busy finishing off the beer making process. The last and most important part of the magic are the aroma hops. We use Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand in ilkley Pale as the primary late hop and add just before the end of the boil, and a bit more after the heat goes off to get all the fantastic hop flavour, but not too much of the bitterness.

Nelson Sauvin hops - the aroma off these is just fantastic!
After the heat is turned off we let things stand for 15 minutes or so to let the wort settle and hops to drop and form a filter bed before we start the chill and transfer in the fermenter.

The result, after our yeast has completed its task is our premium blonde beer Ilkley Pale! Just have to wait a week or so before we can try it!
